The Story

A vision born from dance, connection and the desire to share Polynesian culture with the world.

Manavai Polynesian Dance was created from a deep love for ʻOri Tahiti and the belief that dance can be a powerful way to connect with our bodies, express who we are and discover our own strength.

The vision behind Manavai was to make 'Ōri Tahiti more accessible, creating opportunities for people around the world to learn, grow and experience the beauty of this art form, regardless of where they live or whether they have access to a local dance school.

Through online classes, Manavai brings the energy of Polynesian dance beyond geographical boundaries, offering a space where beginners can take their first steps, experienced dancers can continue developing their technique, and every student can explore their own journey through movement.

More than learning choreography, Manavai is about developing confidence, embracing femininity, building strength and creating a deeper connection with yourself through dance.

Inspired by the ocean, the movement of the body and the spirit of Polynesian dance, Manavai represents a journey of growth, expression and connection.

Our purpose is to share ʻOri Tahiti with passion, dedication and respect for its cultural roots, while welcoming people from different backgrounds who wish to learn and be inspired by its beauty.

Manavai is where your journey with dance begins — and where movement becomes something more.

Meet our Founder

Elizabeth Acua
Founder of Manavai, dancer, & choreographer .

Elizabeth began dancing at the age of six, but ʻOri Tahiti became much more than dance to her. Through different stages of life, it has been a source of strength, expression and connection, inspiring her to explore not only the movements, but also the rich culture and traditions behind them.

Originally from Mexico, she has dedicated years to professional training, learning from Tahitian teachers and following the style of renowned  Makau Foster, Her journey has taken her to national and international competitions, performances and cultural events.

After travelling and living in different parts of the world, Elizabeth recognised how difficult it can be to find a dance community and continue learning. This inspired her to create Manavai, an online space to learn, connect and share the love for ʻOri Tahiti, wherever life takes you.

Now based in Australia, she continues to teach, perform and share her passion, always guided by a commitment to learning from Tahitian people and honouring their culture with love and respect.

Manavai is her way of sharing the dance that has been part of her life for so many years. 🌊
